Lawn Treatments
Mowing keeps a lawn tidy. Treatments are what keep it thick enough that weeds have nowhere to take hold. They run on a seasonal schedule rather than a per-visit one, which is why they are quoted separately from mowing.
Licensed and insured
Weed control and fertilization are applied under a Texas Department of Agriculture applicator license, Category 3 (Ornamental and Turf). Most companies in this market do not say whether they hold one.
What treatments do
Weed control
Reduces the weed pressure competing with your grass for water and nutrients. Timing matters more than volume here, since heading off weeds before they establish is far easier than clearing them afterward.
Fertilization
Feeds the grass so it grows in thick. A dense lawn crowds weeds out on its own, which is why fertilization and weed control work better together than either does alone.
Seasonal timing
Central Texas has a long growing season and hard summers. Treatments are timed to that rather than run on a fixed calendar, because what a lawn needs in April is not what it needs in August.
What we won't promise you
What we will not tell you: that any treatment program eliminates every weed or guarantees a particular shade of green. Lawns respond to watering, soil, shade, and weather as much as anything we apply. What treatments do reliably is tilt the odds in your grass's favor over a season.
Timed to the Central Texas season
A long growing season and hard summers mean a lawn's needs shift through the year. Treatments follow that rather than a fixed calendar.
Spring
Growth takes off and lawns often need weekly service to keep up. This is when the difference between a maintained lawn and a neglected one shows most.
Summer
Central Texas heat is hard on turf. Cutting higher shades the roots and holds moisture, so we raise the deck rather than scalping. Growth can slow in the worst of it.
Fall
Growth slows and many customers move from weekly to bi-weekly. Leaf clean-ups start becoming the bigger job.
Winter
Warm-season grasses go dormant and mowing drops off. Clean-ups, bed work, and projects fill the season.
Different grass, different needs
St. Augustine
Common in shadier Central Texas yards. It likes being cut tall, around 3 to 4 inches, because the extra blade shades the soil and holds moisture through summer. Scalping it short is one of the fastest ways to stress a St. Augustine lawn.
Bermuda
Loves full sun and handles heat well. It is cut shorter than St. Augustine, usually 1.5 to 2.5 inches, and grows fast enough through summer that weekly service keeps it looking best.
Zoysia
Dense and slower growing, sitting between the two on height. It tolerates a bi-weekly schedule better than Bermuda does in peak season.
